Our Piano campaign has been fully funded thanks to the generous donations we have received from members of our Piano by Nature community!
Many thanks to all of you who have helped us realize this ambitious dream.

You Are The Key To Our Success

We purchased a Steinway B Grand Piano from the estate of our much-beloved friend, Russell Ames. The piano needed restorative work and there were other associated expenses–we asked for your help and you’ve met our $25k piano campaign goal! The PBN Board of Directors would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all who made a gift towards this campaign. Every step of the way we were met with incredible generosity from people all over the North Country and beyond. Much of the support we received came from a large number of $100 donations from a great many people. We thank you all for believing in us and our vision. This piano is truly a part of all of us, and we are overjoyed to be able to keep Russell’s legacy alive and share this beautiful instrument with our community for many years to come.

Russell Ames Steinway B Grand Piano Acquisition

During the estate sale, Piano by Nature was given the opportunity to purchase Russell Ames’ beloved Steinway B grand piano—and we jumped on it! (Please see the tribute to Russell included on our “In Memorium” page.)

The introduction of his magnificent instrument to our Hand House venue would vastly enhance the performances there. But we needed help to defray the costs of the piano purchase as well as the cost of restoration.

Because a piano keyboard has 88 keys, we asked that donors sponsor individual keys to help us pay for purchasing our piano, a height-adjustable piano bench, a cover, and a humidifier. The “cost” of a single key was $100, and as keys were purchased, we updated the progress toward completing this phase of the campaign by coloring the keys in the graphic below.

In addition, to the purchase price, we also needed to fund its restoration. This task, initially underwritten by a generous loan from a friend of Piano by Nature which has now been repaid, was done by Chris Rawson of Rawson Family Pianos in Plattsburgh. The total amount needed to complete both tasks was $25,000. That ambitious sum has been raised thanks to the contributions received from many of our friends and neighbors. Thank you all!

This keyboard graphic, representing the purchase phase of the project goal, is now completely awash with color!
