“Any form of art is a form of power; it has impact, it can affect change–it can not only move us, it makes us move.”

—Ossie Davis

From the Artistic Directors

Because of the great capacity of art to affect each of us from the inside out, PBN has an opportunity to move beyond live performances and tap into that power to create positive change.

For our thirteenth season PBN will be offering our audiences one thirty-minute FREE online concert per month from September 2020 through June of 2021. These ten concerts will be a mix of live-streamed and/or pre-recorded musical performances and will broadcast on Saturdays at 7PM with a live introduction or postlude by the artists. After the Saturday concert we will leave the video up on our website for viewing for a period of two weeks. For the remainder of this season we will only use the Sunday 3PM traditional concert-slot if we have an additional workshop or event to share. But when we return to live concerts, the Sunday slot will most definitely come back.

All of our monthly concert videos will be posted on our website for a period of two weeks for audiences to watch, listen, and enjoy according to their personal schedules. Audience members are encouraged to connect to live-stream performances for the real-time Saturday show at 7PM, and will be provided with a link and instructions for the Zoom app a few days before. If you are interested in attending our shows you will need to sign-up for our email list (on this website) or send your name and email to pianobynature@gmail.com. We want to provide the most secure viewing experience, and can no longer post our link on the website. We will offer pre or post-concert talks or workshop sessions with our artists whenever possible. Each concert will be unique.

We consider this season a gift to our North Country audience, to thank you all for supporting us for twelve glorious years. And we can never say “Thank You” enough because we exist first-and-foremost due to our community. But we are asking those who can make donations please be generous during this difficult time. This entire season will be PBN’s most important fundraiser, occurring at a time when many musicians and concert venues have lost their livelihoods. We at PBN can support them by presenting concerts, and you can support them and us by giving. And if you really want to help, please sign up for a monthly donation amount through our PayPal account. It is essential for us to raise enough funds to keep our doors open so we can pay the artists a working wage for providing their incredible music. And we believe we can make this work with your help!

A Gift of Music

Please consider sending a generous donation to help us continue to support our artists and deliver exceptional live music to the North Country and beyond. You can donate by PayPal or credit card using the button above or you can mail a check made payable to Piano by Nature, 32 Champlain Ave., Westport, NY, 12993. If you have questions or ideas, feel free to call Rose at 518.962.8899. I’d love to hear from you.

Going fully digital this season is certainly a big change for us, but we have made the decision to express ourselves this way until we are sure it is safe for our concertgoers to return. We are also developing plans to digitally do more to support the region’s school music programming, as they too are faced with unprecedented challenges. These plans will be unveiled a bit later in the season, so please stay tuned for more info on this exciting endeavor. Although we will miss seeing you at the Hand House, we are still dedicated to making sure the North Country has Piano by Nature concerts to enjoy. We have a multitude of musical magic this season, including local, regional, and nationally-known top caliber artists who can’t wait to give you this incredible gift of music.

So let’s get this party started with Singer-Songwriter Gregory Douglass on September 26th at 7PM—see you there and bring your friends!
